Banished- BBC2

Postby tutt-sweet » Thu Mar 13, 2014 1:07 pm

Julian will be starring in a new series for BBC2 called 'Banished', written by the wonderful Jimmy McGovern. It will be broadcast in 2015, but the lucky lad starts filming in Sydney next month.

Details here. http://www.tv3.ie/entertainment_article.php?locID=1.803.813&article=128791

We hear that Julian actually appears in every episode too- which is great news for all JRT fans.

" A few very charming ladies down at my Dad's whist drive have been very kind (average age 75-93). My brother is the headmaster of a special school and I know some of his dinner ladies have been very kind to me as well. "

Sorry Mods. I should have posted the stuff about Banished here rather than in news. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-02- ... ed-to-bbc2
But it does look like it's a bigger role than just 'supporting'. Not sure how big yet though...

Thanks Cello for getting me to bump this up to a status all of its own on the forum...

This is looking pretty amazing, and as Julian will be in every episode, there's every good reason to set the recorder! Here's a clip or two to whet the appetite...

Some good reviews in the papers this week. I particularly like The Observer today 'Julian Rhind-Tutt, after such sterling years of radio service, proves again what a thoroughly class package he really is.'

Cello, yes, that bit made me chuckle :)

I wonder if he just quietly mentions it in the ear of scriptwriters at the right moment so that they think it's their idea?

Banished review in The Observer today 'For weeks it was glorious, and cleverly soapy, and intriguing, and incidentally is in danger of making a seriously good late-in-life leading man, a la Clooney, of Julian Rhind-Tutt.' :ex: http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio ... w-observer
